Atlantic City Expressway

Interchange 41 - Berlin - CrossKeys Road

Reutter Engineering served as the design engineers for the South Jersey Transportation Authority's first new full interchange since opening in the 1960's. This new interchange was first proposed in 1994. when Reutter prepared several design alternatives and met with the local communities to discuss their needs.  This new interchange serves Washington Township, Gloucester County as well as Gloucester and Winslow Townships in Camden County.  These three thriving communities have long awaited this interchange which relieves traffic congestion on Rt. 322 (the Pike) in Washington and Monroe Townships.

 The design provided for:

- signalized entrance and exit ramps for Philadelphia and Atlantic City

  bound traffic.

- Easy Pass Toll collection facilities for Philadelphia bound traffic.

- Bridge expansion to provide left turn lanes in addition to a through traffic lane

  across the bridge.

- Extensive landscape buffers to minimize impact on adjacent property owners.

- Relocated local roadways to provide continued access to adjacent properties.

- The saving of a 150+ year old Oak Tree.

Design and permitting of this $5M fast track project was completed in 7 months, bids were received in June 1999.
